I recently watched BLAME which was interesting.

I'm now watching Toyko OVERRIDE, which has lots of action and has some interesting concepts going on, with several sub plots.

Been a century, here I yam. Actually made a list of all the anime I watched in 2024... It was the year of garbage, moe and NSOTALGIA!

First off, I watched the ToHeart anime like 5 times. Yep, I watched it 5 times that last year. I woulda went for another round but I deleted it from my computer because I was driving myself crazy. It's a very slow, very sweet adaptation of one of my favorite galge, done by my new favorite studio OLM with character designs by the amazing Yuriko Chiba (nice round faces and charmingly human movement) with art direction by the LEGEND Shichiro Kobayashi (nobodys boy remi... treasure island.... those couple episodes of creamy mami.... nobody does it like him). There's such a deep love and care taken with these characters and storylines. It's story about little things. About being kind to each other. That's nice. I'll love it forever. You should get a soda, some watermelon, lean back and watch a little. It makes ya feel good.

I finally finished the og Ai no Kusabi. I'm gonna be real folks, it was garbagio. Like, it took me over a year to finish it... and there was only two episodes. The ending was badass but it was awfully unearned. Characters were nothingburger. I was entirely baited by this really cool amv on the youtubes that made me go "what!!! rejected KOF characters but it's CYBERPUNK?! Count me in!!!" Unfortunately, it was bad. Oh, I watched Legend of the Blue Wolves. It was fantastic. I totally cried at the end. Mildly depressed that they made Giant Robo instead of the other 4 episodes, but hey, Giant Robo is pretty damn cool and has a lot more mass market appeal than Gundam Stardust parody naughties.

Streamed some Twinkle Nora Rock Me + Cipher the Video with buddies, although the latter is very heartfelt. I'm kinda sad we'll never get that goofy Americana type shoujo ever again. The kind where they eat salad for breakfast and talk about Vietnam out of the blue...sigh... Also popped on some gauche the Cellist, Junkers Come Here, Jarinko Chie, Ginga no Uo, all very good!

I think my favorite of the year was probably ToHeart I MEAN Ryokunohara Labyrinth: Sparkling Phantom. It's the most 70's manga turned into the most 80's OVA thats clearly a passion project all directed, key animated and le character designed by one gal. That's the true power of a fujo for ya... It's got so much whimsy, man, and this bangin' super 80's soundtrack that goes from cutesy pop to experimental electronic stuff, it rules! https://youtu.be/4ciIZ9c6vWI?t=14 The surreal story is driven by pure emotion. Just the way I like it. It's a great 40 minute long music video, I highly suggest it. That's enough of me yapping, But I got excited just thinking about it.
