Now here's something I never expected to see: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... ime/.83981

I'm sure some of you remember the "Ushio & Tora" OAVs from the 90s, right? Well, looks like they're making a TV series based off the original manga this Summer! It'll be released by a relatively new company (Studio Voln), but there's some industry vets already linked to the project: Direction by Satoshi Nishimura (of Trigun, Hajime no Ippo) with scripts by Toshiki Inoue (of Ranma 1/2, Dragonball).

It'll be interesting to see how this goes--I could see it being pretty cool if it's handled well. The character designer worked on that new GARO series, which I've heard good things about but haven't gotten around to checking out yet.

New PV for the anime! https://youtu.be/sOlvF6MiDTY

It actually looks and sounds pretty good! I'm glad they stuck with using the style of the original manga instead of what Parasyte did and tried to "modern" it up. I'm hoping this'll be a good one, maybe someone will even consider releasing the old manga here as a tie in? (Probably not but a gal can dream~)

Is it wrong that I consider Ushio & Tora to be the official anime version of Calvin and Hobbes?

I actually have the original on DVD. Maybe I should actually get around to watching it.

I haven't had a chance to watch the original, but this new version looks pretty interesting. I think I'll be adding this to the watch list!

I watched the first episode and I thought it was really great, actually! Animation looks very much like the original manga, comedic timing's pretty great, voice actors are good. I'm hoping it can keep the momentum going, as Parasyte started strong but then fizzled out about halfway through, bleh.
